When a hiking group goes on their yearly hike, the world unexpectedly changes. They flee the trails when they hear what seem to be blaring sirens. They come across a dug out hold in the mountain on their trail in which they take cover. There are sounds of distant explosions. They're not just bombs either, they're missles. After hours of explosions and fear, the war amongst them comes to an end. When they see what is left of not only the city but the world around them, they drop to the ground in hope that it is all just a dream...

AN: If there are any grammar or spelling errors, don't be afraid to let me know, I love to improve my writing and my works. 
I plan to uodate the stroy about 2-4 times a week depending on my schedule...

April 22 I've been walking for days, they're still tracking me though. i sleep high in the trees, I double back, walk in the river, cover my tracks, start false trails...it's all slowing me down but it's really the only chance I have. The electricity is out, the phones don't work, no running water, no cars, no radio...nothing. Sometimes I hear screams in the night that sound like they come straight from the depths of Hell, and the scent of sulphur and rot rides on the breeze when the heaviest clouds block out the sun. I think it's the thing that got Dan...the thing that's almost gotten me. Whatever it is, it's completely unnatural and I just know I have to stay ahead of it or I'll be just as dead as Dan is.
