Suigin (Sugi) Masuku, a book shop owner in London, is also a corpse. A corpse (in this reality) is a being with a special eye. They can see a person's personality, mood, and sometimes even their thoughts. Each corpse has their own eye, one may have a striped one, another a rainbow one, and they normally hide them under an eye patch, hair, or contact lenses. The possess un-human abilities, such as magic, invisibility, or a speedy wit. But with this power comes a price; they must eat human organs. (heart, eyes, brain, stomach, etc) They can enjoy few things that humans favor, such as tea & pomegranates. Sugi struggles to fit in to this world, and when a corpse official comes into her shop and demands her assistance, she doesn't know what to do.
