Decades of wars and unrest have clawed at the sides of Pyrrhia's dragons for as long as they can remember, and the tales of true peace and dragonets of prophecy are simply whispers of the past. Shrike has never been regarded by his tribe as a real SkyWing. His mother fell ill and passed away when he was a dragonet, and his father, a royal SeaWing, was executed by his dictatorial queen as soon as it was found out that he'd had an affair with a common SkyWing. Still, Shrike remains tethered to the Queen and his tribe. Years of lost wars, unfulfilled treaties, and an excessively lavish lifestyle lived by their ruler, Queen Markhor, have left the SkyWing tribe impoverished and starving, and Shrike, the princess's personal bodyguard, has witnessed the consequences of the Queen's ignorance firsthand. A diplomacy meeting with the SeaWings gone wrong erupts in yet another bloody war, and Shrike is swept up in battle before finding himself caught in between the jaws of the political turmoil that seem to be tearing his tribe apart from the inside out. But all goes wrong when he accidentally reveals his abilities, and his power-hungry family attempts to use Envy for their own bidding. Seeing the destruction of his family before him, once Envy escapes the claws of the NightWings, he tries to get the Gem of Tyranny before the seven tribes of Pyrrhia ultimately destroy him and each other for it. The forbidden fruit
The Icewing prince Iceberg was born with a magical gift that hasn't appeared in his royal family for years. He had the mysterious animus powers that were so rare in every tribe of Pyrrhia. He was taught since his very young age, that every animus dragon that ever appeared in the tribe had one big purpose in life - delivering a gift to the whole tribe, that would benefit everyone. A catch was, that this was the only spell that he could ever cast and when gifting the tribe, he had to give away his animus powers for good. As he slowly began to reach his seventh birthday, his Mother- Queen North- grew very impatient with his gifting ceremony. By the time an animus turned seven years old, he had to make his gift. But Iceberg never liked the idea of giving away this awesome magic, casting only one spell in his entire life. He wanted to explore his power and try helping everyone he could. Some things just don't go according to plan though and Iceberg has to face terrible twists that may deprive him of his own life. On top of that, her father died before she'd hatched, and her mother shortly after. And her only friend isn't who she says she is.
