Citrianne Denrir has lived in the Basiliral her whole life. Her aunt Evian, apart of the Basilicral Council, is trying her best to raise Citrianne into becoming a council member too. But after a trip to Asia, a strange occurence with the mermaids leaves Citrianne with a strange key. She has been warned not to tell anybody about the key and listens to the advice, and soon discovers that it is a powerful artifact from the Basicral itself, and was stolen. Why would somebody leave Citrianne the key? And what is this key supposed to do? As Citrianne discovers more about the Basilicral, she is having trouble with her new caretaker, Ptolemer, who's ambition is to secretly kill her so a prophecy foretold by God himself will not take place.
