The worlds already ended so why was I still alive? Or even trying to survive?

The answer was simple: Over my dead body was I giving up the chance of a lifetime. 

My names Oliver and I'm 19, just about to be headed to college to study my dream of being an Astronomer. That is until the fated day of the world ending occurred. Most civilization crumbled apart and millions died but there were still survivors, including myself. No, no don't get the wrong idea. This wasn't some epidemic that created zombies or anything. Just that outer space had decided to pay a visit to lil 'ol planet Earth. In all rationality there was very little chance of survival but I was hell bent on staying alive. Never in my life had something like this occurred and I wasn't letting the chance of a lifetime slip away. 

However, after a certain foreign being invaded my life how am I to react? Kill them or be killed? Or completely submit.
