Willow Bates has never spoken a single word. Due to her physical muteness, her life in Gotham City consists of frustration and a constant fear of the worst. She lives in an unending state of paranoia, and harbors guilt for her past. When tragedy strikes and Willow's life is changed forever, she finds solace (and maybe even love) in the Justice League's team of sidekicks. Through her new friends, she may find the power she needs to bring an end to her fear and finally extinguish the silence. ~~~ DISCLAIMER: I own nothing except my OC. DC and Cartoon Network own everything else. ❤️This story is dedicated to Adam West, the man who taught us that even the Dark Knight was capable of happiness and made my love for Batman possible! ❤️

A mask protects you. Defines you. But a mask only fools people on the outside. Pretending you're someone you're not changes you. My whole life, I thought I knew who I was. A warrior, a protector of the weak, someone meant to do something incredible. Then suddenly, I'm uprooted. I'm no longer in the place where I thought I belonged. Everyone starts to tell me I'm someone else. A warrior becomes a monster. A protector becomes an enemy. And the idea of doing something great, it's lost in translation. But then there are those select few. Those who see beyond the scars and battle wounds. Beyond the painful past... beyond the mask. Those are the ones to be fighting for.
