"Are you going to run if I let you go?" Alec whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my back. I shook my head. "I don't believe you." He let go of me anyway, but wrapped his hand around my wrist before I could go anywhere. "Listen to what I'm going to say. Anything that jerk said isn't true. I know I haven't known you very long at all, but everything I'm saying is the truth. Don't believe it if you don't want to, but you and I both know it's the truth deep down. I also didn't chase you down to just tell you this. I'm walking you home." Tears still run down my face. This isn't happening. Why would a complete stranger, who I don't know about ten facts about do this for me?
