Carrie has never met her biological Mother, and her 'Auntie' who adopted her when she was only a few weeks old has always told her that her Mom died in a car accident. Despite her Aunt's story she feels her Mother is still out there somewhere, and that there's something she needs to find out, and questioning her Aunt about her mother only makes her mad.
As her 18th birthday gets closer, so does her wits end, and her friends decide she needs a little break from 'The wicked Aunt of the west'. So Carrie and her two best friends convince her Aunt to loosen her reins long enough for them to go to the beach for spring break.
But little does Carrie's Aunt know they are actually planning to drive 6 hours to Dallas; Carrie's Mom Anastashia's home town, and while they are there they find out a lot more than where her mom liked to hang out after school, in fact the knowledge Carrie acquires of her Mother is more than she bargained for and the three teens are overwhelmed with what they find out.

Michael's Ghost Girl
This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room. Slowly the two begin to fall in love and Mariah tells him her story, and of the hidden danger that lies up the street from him.
