A place where PERFECTION is law,
a world of no error,
a second world pangea filled with artificial life,
one human, to thousands of clones.
Renee Dovey is your one in a lifetime rarity, a human. Born 1,810 years into a society that was formed to forget the destruction of 20 year long World War 3, it prides the only thing they can hold onto to forget those mistakes. Beauty, and perfection.
But those come at a price. To wear an eternal mask, to hide in your own shadow, to live, but know you are never good enough for the society. Renee was born into something that is already perfect, a human. Nothing she is can be wrong, she is a role model, the unachievable by clones. Lucky her, right? All she's ever wanted was to fit in, be beautiful like everyone else. But how can someone be beautiful, when they already are? How can you achieve perfection, if you're already there?
Abigal who has no last name, is a clone. She enters ' Junior High' years before Renee and has a very different story to share. Unlike Renee, she has no pride for being who she is, and uses every secret ounce of energy she has to stand out in the only way she knows how, by being beautiful. (I won't spoil anymore)
Clones, androids, uprisings, secrets, self esteem, carnivorous birds, in one dystopian science fiction novel. Asking one question, what is true perfection and what does it mean, to be beautiful.
Sneak Peek-
" If, as you say, all we have left is the freedom of perfection, it may seem a broad path, but I will follow it."
- Prologue, CLONED, by Pinkasaurus
It's 2141. Clones have taken over as the dominant species. Using brain nanochips to surveil thoughts and actions, they have pushed traditional humans down to a status of low-class workers in a discriminatory dystopia.
A nineteen-year-old aspiring mechanic and traditional human, Daphne, unwillingly leads a double life when Sigi, a rebel from the nightclub Amanita, hacks her nanochip and frees her from clone control. Since then, she becomes involved in a plot to dethrone the clones as the ruling elite.
Daphne is caught between two pro-violence titans with twisted concepts of justice: Apollo, the Living God of clones, on one side and Agape, the rebels' leader, on the other. Daphne's ideals and pacifism are put to the test as she encounters good and evil on both sides. She abhors the rebels' blood-thirsty road to freedom, which only emulates the clones' violence during the Prevalence War. All in the name of justice.
True peace, not rebels taking over and getting revenge, could end it all. But how? History and old mistakes will get repeated. Despite it all, some questions plague Daphne's mind: if true peace is possible, are criminals and tyrants worth listening to? Do they deserve peace? To be forgiven while uprooting the seeds of hatred so that history doesn't repeat itself?
Daphne won't conform to the insurrectionary, perverse ideals of Agape and her allegedly justified acts of terrorism. But can she rise from a scared girl to an empowered game-changer?
