Spending her days of summer raking leaves of elderly people's yards was not what Clara Davis had in mind when she pictured the summer before her senior year. She also never thought her boyfriend would wreck her car, then leave her with the damage it brought with it. But now she's here, with freaks, a few hotties, a way-too-cheery girl, a strange leader, and the annoying, yet mysteriously intriguing, definition of a cliche bad boy, Trevor. Together, they embark on a journey full of pranks, way too many yelling matches, and just possibly, love.
DISCLAIMER: This book may become very cliche or cheesy at times, and for that I apologize, but get over it. It's my first book.

But Monica McCaslin didn't think she would ever be one of those people, would ever have one of those moments. Brought up in a small suburb, with everything she could ever ask for, there wasn't much left for her to want. Monica's ordinary life was to go as such- follow her high school sweetheart to college, graduate, get married, have two kids; the cookie cutter life. White picket fence included. What she did not expect was to meet a dark-haired stranger sitting all alone on a park bench, at that very same school she was to attend with said future husband. After a brief conversation, just a handful of words between them, Monica decides to go on a cross-country road trip with him; putting her faith and future in the hands of a stranger. Thinking she'd soon regret her decision and the life she left behind, she realizes she doesn't at all. Free of expectation and a future that she thought was set in stone, she begins to find the woman she was truly meant to be. On steamy, hot summer days, the parched soil cracks like ice into jagged lines resembling lightning blowing up the midnight sky. Summer craves to be quenched and begs to feel the invigorating shower that only rain can douse. It takes what it can get from rain without considering the possibility of destruction. Rain is a necessary evil. It's prayed for yet cursed and hated. It brings forth destruction and life simultaneously. Rain is a refreshing sprinkle and an overwhelming flood. It's elusive, and it alone decides when and where to release its precipitation with no regard to the impact of its power. *** Summer breezed into McGrath's Pub like a breath of fresh air. Despite her miserable day and the tepid rain dampening the streets of Harrisburg, she lit up the bar with her bright smile the moment she entered. Rain is looking for a warm body to take to his bed. He spots Summer and immediately approaches her. She has no clue about his plans for her, and he's determined to bring those plans to fruition. Summer's heart and soul were destroyed by the torrential storm that is Rain Grant. Summer is determined not to let what happened to her happen to the "Next Girl." *** "Next Girl" I bet you probably met him at a bar Let him walk you to your car I bet he said he never fell this hard Yeah, I remember that part He knows how to say all the right things Knows how to get you outta that dress Knows how to make you think you're thΠ΅ best thing But I know what happens next, girl Co-written and performed by Carly Pearce *** Cover by: @zmswift 1st Place πŸ₯‡ The Carnival Awards 2021 Chick-Lit Featured in WattpadShortStory's Realistic Fiction Reading List Qualified for Round 3 of the 2023 Amby Awards
