In the beginning their family was human. Over a thousand years ago they were just like everyone else, a family trying to survive when it was difficult to do so. The Mikaelson family have lived for centuries, more than anyone else. Very few knew them, believing them to be a story, a myth. No one really believed unless they had actually come across them.
