I always knew I was different. No matter how close I got to a flame, I’d never get burnt. Even when I should have been burnt by my foster mum’s flambé dinner party, but I had not so much a scratch. When it came to heat I was different too, during Summer when the other kids were complaining about the ‘sweltering heat’ I was relishing in the comforting warmth. In fact the hotter it got, the more at home I felt. This feeling only got more and more noticeable as I got older, then on my 16th birthday something incredible happened, and my life was changed forever.
