"Please God, don't let it kill me." I wept audibly, tossing my body headfirst with even more recklessness, panic trembling my exhausted limbs. It was undeniably dark; I could no longer dodge the potholes. Ash was out of sight. My ankle twisted excruciatingly the minute I took a wrong step. Mud smeared my sweaty face as I hit the muddy ground, sweat continuously dripping from my temples. I expected the wolf to rip out my throat but instead, it ripped off a piece of my clothing and bit my twisted ankle. I screamed. The pain was like thousands of knives stabbing the exact same spot, over and over and over. I tried to defend myself, but my body was weak from all that running. A burning something burned up the length of my leg. My torso was burning. The burn crept up my arms, chest and head. I couldn't take the pain any longer. My vision blurred at the edges, like darkness trying to creep in and take over my senses. My vision melted into nothing. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Claudia William Simpson enjoyed being a rebellious teenager.
