Evolution has taken a shift in the human genome; instead of people walking around like normal humans, everyone is born with the ability to gain extraordinary powers once they reach a certain age in their lives. The age at which they gain these abilities determines the strength of these powers, with those gaining them at the earliest stage of life being called "Bloomers," and people who either do not have them yet or awaken them later on in life being called "Late Bloomers." Society has found a way to work around this evolution, but it functions somewhat differently from our own. With slight differences as the America east coast joined together into one "superstate,". The story follows Sasha McCrory, a late bloomer from the more rural part of what was once Virginia, in her senior year at one of the most violent high schools in the country. We follow her and her friends as they navigate through their final year at the notorious Blackwell High School. At the same time, we dive into their mental struggles, find out about the strange semi-dystopia they live in, and dive into themes such as rediscovering optimism from a pessimistic mindset and rehabilitation.
The Unordinary
Six high school students looks like anyone else acts like anyone else but are capable of things no one else is. They learnt from a young age no one that means NO ONE can know about their powers even their parents and other siblings. It brings out the true friends and those who just want to use you. In the end, what do you do when your closest friend betrays you? This is the story as they try to keep their biggest darkest secret of what they are capable of and as they discover they're not the only ones like them... I am not very good at trigger warnings before individual chapters but there is mention of blood, cold abuse and parents divorcing. (But read at your own risk in case I mention something else. Sure, the doctors said a car crash delivered her there, but it didn't feel like it. They said her family's dead but how come Freia didn't feel like that was true? When she was finally forced to be in it, she found out things she thought that only existed in books. Stronger than 1 but she doesn't turn into a giant monkey. She has better accuracy than 2.... Somehow.... But her weapon of choice would've bee a bow and arrow. She has 3's same power but she doesn't like to use it except to get what she wants and her sister's doesn't work on her. She can transform like 6 could. She can see him like 4. The only other one that can. He was always afraid of his power drowns it out by getting high. But they were kind of her only friends minus her brother and their more dangerous sister. 5 and her liked to race each other the only difference is, is that as smart as he is she's a better jumper. But she has the most in common with 7. They're both seen as too dangerous and her powers like her sister's are awaken and work because of their emotions. She's more dangerous though because she can mirror her siblings powers. She trained herself her dad never cared about her. He always cared about his non biological children more. And he only cared enough about them to train them but he didn't care about any of them. She was born the same day they were and the same age. She wasn't born the same way though. It was more like a science experiment. He gave a serum to get the one person he trusted to have her and made it timed to the day. He knows that he's not from Monarch and stuff, but he can't remember where he is from. But, over time Artemis gains more and more of his powers. He even starts to remember. Then... THEY come...
