I heard them behind me. Their footsteps loud and heavy, compared to my light, swift footsteps. If they were normal humans I would have easily outrun them, but they weren't normal humans. They were hunters. Most were raised from birth, it was in their blood to kill monsters. Monsters like me. I jumped up into the air, souring. The wings exploded from my back, and I flew. I heard the hunters shouting orders to each other from underneath me. I heard a crunching underneath me and I saw the first hunter jump up behind me, firing off arrows from his crossbow. One arrow shot straight through my wing , but it healed almost instantly. I had had a snack before this chase started. More arrows were shot but most missed. I started to think I might escape before a hunter shot up right in front of me. I collided into him, and we fell to the ground.All Rights Reserved
