My name is Ellyssa but my friends call me Elly, or if I had friends anymore that is what they would call me. My life used to be everything that I could ever want and need. I had an awesome boyfriend and amazing friends. I was on top of the world and I felt like nothing could change that, until my Senior year in high school. What was supposed to be my perfect year with my friends turned out to be my worst, when I fell from grace and landed in my very own personal hell. It seemed no mater how hard I tried to pick myself up someone was always there to knock me right back down. Even though all the odds are against me I will be damned if I let them get the best of me. I will make my senior year the best it can be even if it kills me. EVEN if it KILLS ME!

Cassie Elwood wasn't built for solitude, yet loneliness had followed her all her life. After her mother's sudden death in a car accident, she was left without stability-or a place that truly felt like home. Growing up alone taught her resilience and to expect very little from others. So when no relative stepped in, she wasn't surprised. What she didn't expect was Ollie O'Hara-her mother's boyfriend. He wasn't family, wasn't obligated, nor prepared to raise a grieving teenager. Yet he chose to stay. To care. To try. Their journey isn't one of dramatic rescue, but of quiet survival: shared routines, late-night talks, and small moments that slowly stitch two broken lives together. As grief softens into closeness, the line between responsibility and attachment begins to blur. Comfort becomes complicated, and feelings arise neither dares to name. "Sunshine and Her Teddy Bear" is an emotionally driven story of loss, healing, and found family-about love that requires patience, restraint, and honesty, because some boundaries exist for a reason. Author's Note / Content Disclaimer: This romantic drama features an age gap but does not romanticize relationships between adults and minors. There is no grooming or manipulation, and no romantic or sexual involvement occurs until the protagonist reaches adulthood. The story consciously explores discomfort, guilt, and emotional conflict, focusing on restraint, responsibility, and moral awareness. It's a psychological and emotional portrayal of love growing in a healthy, respectful way when guided by restraint, integrity, and maturity. I welcome feedback and critique. "I need you to be the put together one because I'm so fucked up. You've saved me." He whispers. "Carter, we saved each other." I mutter looking at him through my eyelashes. I lean into him, our lips not even an inch apart. "Sophia we shouldn't..." He looks hesitant. "Please, I need you." I almost started crying. "Please." I mutter one more time, my eyes begging for him. My body needing him. Sophia Carrington. She just moved from New York to California in search of a new life. When her life took a dark turn she's forced to leave everything behind. She just wants to finish her final year of high school, numb to the world, while learning to cope with the trauma she's endured. Carter Marquez. Newly single after being dumped by his girlfriend of two years. After losing his dad in a car accident he's fallen apart. The list of people he trusts is short, he hates letting people in. He's constantly trying to make up for his mistakes of the past, trying to find a new purpose in life. When the two of them collided, they instantly took a mutual disliking to each other. Misunderstandings and a dash of alcohol set a flame between them. Sophia hates the snarky remarks and stupid nicknames that leave his mouth. Carter thinks Sophia is just another trust fund brat. Soon their rivalry begins to dissolve and they learn that sharing the pain of their past can form connections they never thought to be possible. "It's always been you, Phoenix. You are the one who makes me the happiest. Just being in the same room as you gives me god damn butterflies. Hearing the sound of your voice makes me feel safe and protected. And when you left for college, home didn't feel like home anymore. That's when I realized that home wasn't just a house or a place you live at...for me, it was you." Scarlett Wolf has the looks of her father but the sass, class, and kindest soul from her mother. She wears her heart on her sleeve and there is only one person on earth who takes up the biggest part of it. The one who she has been desperately in love with since diapers and the one who has never seen her as anything other than just a little girl. Phoenix Zeller has the rugged looks, charm, and cluelessness from his father but the passionate and protective heart from his mother. He's serious and stubborn at times, but when he finally opens up, he is the biggest sweetheart you'll ever know. And just when he thinks he has a good grasp on life, a little "Wolf" will come along to flip his world upside down in the best way possible. **This is book two of my "Out of" series. Book one is called "Out of Left Field" which is about the parents of the characters in this story. It is currently on the Chapters app, but I will be slowly transferring it over to Wattpad. You do not have to read book one first. Just know that there may be a few very simple details you would be missing.** Copyright © 2020 by Jenna Stephens All rights reserved.
