It's a take on a typical tale, with more reasoning and backstory behind each character to be able to properly see why they did certain things. Kai is the protagonist, a mermaid who has been friends with a group of sirens, who recently started to do activity's the older members of their society typically do. Huli is the antagonist, a siren with a tragic backstory, who has been doing similar activities as the older people have for years, such as scaring humans and stealing their things. However, there are reasons for why each girl acts the way they do, since Kai was brought up in a family that left her ignorant of the real world, and Huli, who experienced it too soon and had to fend for herself. Ohana was a simple human girl who didn't get along with her mother too well after her father left them, so she tries to save the locket she was given by them when she was young, due to it being one of the few gifts left that she still has from her father. However, she throws it for into the ocean in anger, until she realizes what happened, and desperately searches for it each day, hoping for it to wash up on the shore. Huli has a separate friend group that's recently introduces to Kai, but are similar to Huli, in terms of following her command and taking more than their fair share of things. This is a paper I had to do for my English class, with a hidden allegorical meaning, so this's the story I chose to write. I hope everyone who reads it, enjoys it!
