Chippy Halwood has been a loner ever since he was five years old. He has no friends and no parents.

When his tenth Christmas rolls around, he is visited by an angel, who brings him all sorts of presents.

Every year at Christmas, the angel comes back with more and more gifts for every time he grows older with every passing year.
