Maeryn is the crown princess of Unali. Despite the death of her father and her strained relationship with her mother, Maeryn can't but be happy with just her one friend. Her lady in waiting Marianne. Although they have much in common, nothing makes the two a close as the way the look. They look identical in almost every way. While holding a ball, Maeryn and Marianne decide to switch places for the night. During the dance Marianne is assassinated instead of Maeryn. Now Maeryn is on a quest. Not only to find out who is trying to kill her, but to avenge her best friends' death.
