Set against the backdrop of the 2020 Covid-19 outbreak, a young woman, Gravely Eaton, is stuck working at the family funeral home with a father she hates. The world is dying around her, but there seems no escape from her boring life with no friends, no lover and no future. Her unchosen path in life made her an alcoholic, albeit a philosophical one. When her father Rushton dies in a car accident, Gravely takes some joy in embalming his electrocuted body. Finally, it seems, she'll be unstuck - free to live her life, maybe even find a guy. Perhaps she'll pursue the veterinary career she always dreamed about. For a few hours, her life is her own, until her dead father walks away from the embalming table. This inexplicable turn of events sets off a series of relationship challenges for Gravely and leads to dangerous and horrific confrontations that change her and her world forever. Get inside Gravely's head as she pens the triumphs and defeats she experiences in a very personal and often amusing way. Travel through Toronto neighbourhoods and landmarks with Gravely as she laughs, cries, quakes with fear, and grows. What follows is a slice of a young woman's path to self-realization and independence. Written in her own hand... logged in the Gravely Journal.
