Maybe he wasn't the most charming or sweet,
And maybe his sassiness was to be expected,
But Michael Clifford wasn't hard to open up to.
Maybe it was the feeling that he gave me when he grinned,
Or the tone he used when he was asking me something,
But Michael wasn't prepared for me to spill everything onto him.
And maybe that's why I learned all those years ago how to be on my own,
Because I always was.
