A day like any other, turned to blood and misery in the blink of an eye. The soul devourers had been withheld for thousands of years, the residents beyond Riverin's walls growing comfortable. Derosai was born and raised in Riverin, dedicating her life to abolishing the soul devourer race from the face of Alatine. Everything she worked toward. Everything her and her husband planned could be torn away. Her husband believes their son to be the key to ending the devourer blight and if he perishes, there won't be anyone to stop the second dark war.
Alithium was born to another world, frozen and far from Riverin. Unlikely events destroy everything she holds dear, tearing her away from the only home she's ever known by thrusting her into a foreign land. One of heat and despair. She soon finds out how unwelcoming man can be, taken into a city on the brink of destruction. Her only goal is to escape. Their problems, man or devourer... it didn't concern her.
