Ek is convinced their misfortune, along with the loss of their father, is because of the people from the sky, the Gulfjuns.

The Surtarian Chief Scientist, Ananaya, accelerates his plan to genetically modify the interspecies boys' Warrior Genes, with performance enhancing injections.
