After years of working at SHIELD, and being close to the higher-ups in the organization, Wenda Cahill is surprised it takes as long as it did for her to meet Steve Rogers.
When she does meet him, it's brief. But then the next time they meet, it's after the death of Nick Fury and he's grabbing her hand and running. Running away from SHIELD and there are people shooting at them and she doesn't understand what's going on.
But Nick Fury trusts Steve, so Wenda does as well.
It's only after they're away from the Triskellion that he tells her what's going on.
SHIELD is compromised.

This is the story that follows the slow burn romance between Steve Rogers and SHIELD agent Emma Baker. Emma is a SHIELD reporter who spends her free time blogging about the city with her close friend Maria Hill. This knowledge of the modern day New York City is what makes Director Fury believe that Emma is the perfect woman to help Steve get acclimated to the world he wakes up in. Follow Emma's journey of reconciling with love, facing her past, and sticking up for what she believes in no matter the cost all while grappling her feelings for a teammate. Anyways! As one has to do with most fan fiction stories, I am obligated to say that I in fact do not own any of the characters mentioned in this story besides Emma Baker and her family along with the occasional original side character.
