WARNING: I will sadly not follow the cannon material as much as someone would like, don't get me wrong, I love the cannon material with my heart but making an AU is all about putting the character is a new setting. A team of guards get send to live in the living conditions with the new animals. And it's their choice to do the right thing, whichever that might be. It's their question to answer. Neither of those two boys seem very different from each other, both are kind, well-liked, and very handsome. Even if they aren't friends, you wouldn't expect them to dislike each other. Jace thinks Alec is a jackass know-it-all, and Alec thinks Jace is annoying and throws his personality in everyone's faces.
