What would you do it you were offered the chance to gain any ability that you have always dreamed of? Invisibility, controlling the nature, switching bodies with anyone around you, reading thoughts, controlling minds only through a look, and many, many more.

What would you do if you had the opportunity to become your land's guardian and protect everyone around you?

Ivy knew.

Growing in a closed space which consisted of four brick walls and a bed led to her taking advantage of one of her biggest dreams, and fears at the same time.

She grabbed her chance and held onto it tightly.

But, as she wasn't the only one in the crowd wishing to cross the finish line first, she took a look behind her and saw him, quickly making his way up to her.

Dante only lived for one rule: if you want it, go get it.

Making your opponent's life harder was something they both enjoyed, and with every further step they made, the thrill increased, and their eyes started locking more often than intended.

Dante leans in, his cool breath against my cheek. “Acceptance is the first step to overcoming misfortune.” Misfortune was a light way of describing my current life. “I got a proposition for you,” he says as I felt a shiver race down my back. I looked at him curiously, “And that would be?” Dante looked over at the far a corner where there were a few classic 1940’s wooden pool tables. “I win, you unwind yourself through whatever measures.” I withheld a smartass response, “And if I win?” “Your misfortune will be no more,” Studying Dante I murmured. “How can you guarantee such a thing?” “Because I’m awesome,” Dante says with a smirk. A handsome half smile, that made me want to press my lips against his. Ugh, I’m dancing with the devil. “Or, are you not so familiar with the game?” “If I choose not to play it’s because one, I have a date and secondly I just don’t want too.” “Or,” adds Dante. “There’s a tiny, mental acquisitiveness that you can’t get rid of when it comes to me, and it makes you want to avoid whatever this is. At all costs." Ding, ding, ding! Dante hit the jackpot. I refused to let it show that he was right on target. Dante continued, starring deeply into my brown eyes. "However, you may simply suck at pool and don’t want to be shamed.” I tried my best to hold in every emotion that was bubbling inside of me. It was a mix of excitement and fear. Hot and cold. Night and day. Such contradictions I can’t think straight. Struggling to hold in my composure, I said meandering pass Dante and towards the pool tables. “I’m a goddess,” He said following behind me, “Cocky little vixen.” “Not cocky,” I said over my shoulders. “I told you, I'm a goddess when it comes to pool. I'm untouchable.” - - - - - Copyright 2014 Shelique Lize and I mean that legally. Cover Art Work is Alan Shaprio This book is rated PG-13, however there maybe strong language and some sexual scenes!

"Go to your room!" He roared. I wanted to run towards him, yell, scream, attack, do anything. But I didn't. I obeyed. I just couldn't help it. I silently slinked down the pack house corridor; taking a quick glance at the glowing moon that beamed outside the window. My body pushed me forward, making me ignore my mother's screams. He was killing her. And I just kept walking. I turned the golden doorknob of my solitary box, still walking no matter how hard I tried to fight it. He had control of me, and I could do nothing about it. I walked over to my plain bed that laid blandly in the corner. My body then commanded me to lay down. Why didn't I do anything? Why can't I ever do anything? I began to claw murderously at my chest, a pool of blood now seeping its way through my nightshirt. "Grey! Help me! Don't let him kill me! Wake up Grey! Don't let him kill me!" I looked up to see my mother's blood covered body standing in my doorway.

I smiled, pressing down on his bare chest, my hands itching to move further down. As I was itching to do something, so was he, his eyes following my bruised lips and I could see every thought in that head of his. "No.. tell me ."
