The lone survivor of an expedition to one of the most dangerous corners of the known solar system is picked up by a rescue crew and kills himself shortly after, killing with him one of the only accounts of a dangerous and unforgiving world hidden by Ispolin Mountain. Ryan Steiss, a counter-cultural twenty-year-old living in 23rd century Albany, receives the opportunity of a lifetime: go to Mars as a part one of the largest expeditions led in the last fifty years. But soon the opportunity of a lifetime turns into an unending nightmare, as the secrets of the island plague the crew and threaten their lives, and makes them question what really brought them all there in the first place.
