Shards

Being the daughter of the most powerful people in a prosperous country has given Octavia numerous responsibilities, burdens, and a target on her back. This target has been constantly aimed at since she was a child and is aimed at again when Octavia, along with others, is abducted by members of the Chrome Rebellion - the most notorious rebel group in the nation's history. Heading the operation is the unstable, unpredictable, loony leader of the rebellion: Shard. And Octavia becomes his personal prisoner.

For the second time, Octavia's life is turned upside down. She must survive the dangers of being a hostage. Dangers range from dodging actual bullets to enduring mental manipulation. She cannot even find solace in being returned home with a ransom payment like the other hostages because Shard keeps her ransom a secret from those trying to get the hostages back. Most of Shard's own Chromies don't know what her price is, either.

Few understand and know how this secret ransom works. But, when Octavia finds out, her life goes from being turned upside down to being completely shattered.

Thank you so much for checking out Shards. This was originally a short story, but ever since I finished it, I thought about expanding on it, and now I am. I plan on making this my first not-short story.

Updates to Shard may be a bit wonky especially when the semester is in because classes gotta come first (as much as I wish they didn't), and I'm still in the writing process for Shards. But it will be my goal/hope to update once a week.
