For once in her life, she makes the mistake of refusing to eliminate her target, the Emperor's son, a mistake only punishable by death. This time, just this time, she receives a reprieve from her mistake. But as she makes more and more careless mistakes that leads up to her being tagged a disgrace to her family, she starts to wonder if there is more to life the being than being a ninja.
Set in historic Kyoto, Japan, follow Ikigai as she finds her meaning in life in this story of purpose, emotion, and unexpected love.

The previous Master of Death is an example of what happens to children who betray her so harshly. - Ichigo is a child of Magic and of Shinigami. A young witch expelled from Mahōtokoro due to simple rumors and radicalness, now hides in the Living World and lives a somewhat normal human life, experimenting and exploring the depths and unknown of magic on the side. Life was decent, if a bit bland. A Shinigami appears in her life lead by a butterfly. Life begins anew for Ichigo and her sisters. Everything is twisted sideways for everyone involved.
