The world we live in isn't perfect.

At school. Claire Newman is known as a loser, a nerd, a joke. There isn't a day that goes by where someone doesn't insult her, physically or verbally. And she never fights back. But why?

"Go ahead," I whisper not meeting his eyes, "I can't feel it anymore." I know that he's standing there, with that stupid smirk on his face. Trying to think of an insult. But I don't care. I stopped caring a long time ago.

But when I look up, he's not smirking. He's right in front of me staring at me with so many emotions flickering through his eyes. Like a television screen. "What happened to you?" he asks softly. "Leave me alone." I snap. Because I can't tell him. "Let me help you."

"I can't."
