Love, Yellow

I don’t know just what it was about that day in December that caught my attention. Maybe it was the stillness, the way I closed my eyes and listened and heard as close to silence as I’d ever come to hearing before. Maybe it was the temperature, the way the crisp air nipped at my nose and felt like it was going through my body and cleansing my soul. Maybe it was the way my red balloon floated up into the sky, almost in a straight line and how I watched it as if it was the most interesting spectacle in the world. Maybe it was all of those things put together, swirling around me like a peaceful tornado. But probably, it was those yellow shoes.
