They stood at the top of the hill, taking in the disastrous scene before them. Everything was chaos. houses burned down, trees on fire, panicked citizens running around. It didn't matter, for they had completed their mission.

As they made their way down, they only looked ahead, trying to ignore the hundreds of bodies littering the ground. There were people all around crying over the loss of their loved ones, hugging their lifeless bodies. Up ahead, their friends who helped them throughout the mission, stared at them with disbelief, scorn, sadness andsomething that looked like hatred. However, they just looked past them.

One of them clenched her sword so tightly, her knuckles turned white, her jaw tightening as she looked around her.

Another gritted her teeth and looked only at the ground. She did not want to confront the mess she contributed in causing.

The third balled her hands into fists and scowled. She took a look around her, an angry low growl escaped from her throat.

Despite all the different thoughts, emotions and negativity running through their minds, they all were thinking the same thing.

"Why Me?"
                                                                           *************

You know, I've always wanted a life full of excitement. And guess what? I got my wish. At first, I was really excited and happy, but awhile after that......it started going south. And now, I really wish that I've never asked for any of this to happen.

I seriously didn't see it coming. I was in school getting ready for class when the lights went off trapping me in darkness, wind transporting me to another dimension.

It all started with those whispers. Those frightening whispers which bothered me for days, terrorizing me whenever it could. And now here I am in some land, solving mysteries, saving civilians and a quest for paradise.

The Rider's Legend

52 parts Complete

Hated by the people she's sworn to protect, dragon rider Neely Lynch searches for her stolen dragon while struggling to control the dark powers inside her. ***** After the Culling of Naughton -- a horrific slaughter that led to the murder of several dragon riders and the destruction of two separate armies -- Neely Lynch is on the warpath. Unbeknownst to most, Neely and her friends survived the Culling and are determined to reunite with their kidnapped dragons at any cost (even if that means leaving a trail of broken and bloody bodies behind them). But finding her dragon soon becomes the least of her problems when Neely discovers her disappearance after the Culling has only added to her reputation as the infamous Vidalin Rider. Hated and scorned by the people she's sworn to protect, Neely must find a way to prove she's not the villain everyone thinks she is before her dark and deadly powers, which are slowly growing beyond her control, transform her into the very thing she's trying not to be. [The Rider's Legend can be read as Book 3 in The Rider series, or as a standalone -- but note that it will spoil Book 1 and 2] [[word count: 150,000-200,000 words]]
