What if when we died, we became book characters? 
Our minds wiped of all of our experiences, all we have is our body and our name, we appear in a story. 
False memories inserted into our minds to fill the empty years, and the path already planned for us far before we come to the page.
This has been going on since the beginning of time. But what if someone remembered? What if not all the memories were erased? What if someone remembered that there was no such thing as dragons?
