Excerpt: "One of yours, you say?" Briar ran a calloused hand over the bark of the pine he stood next to. "Yes, Steele Gang property." "Oh, so people are property," Briar's smile widened, but there was something disconcerting about the expression. "You won't be getting him back. Sorry." "That wasn't a request." The tracker spoke up. "He got himself into this. We can't just let him walk away." "But you will," Briar stood up straight. Even at full height, he wasn't terribly intimidating. Andria had no idea what this foreigner was thinking, but he was convinced the man was crazy. This was suicide. "Yeah? Why would we do that?" The other sneered, drawing his pistol. "Because what I'll do to you if you don't is much worse than whatever will happen to you if you do," This story follows the misadventures of an outcast youth attempting to rid himself of a curse. The setting is based on the mid-1800s American frontier, with strong fantasy elements. Camp Nano project for April 2018. Updates/Edits: - As of 21 June, all currently published chapters have been merged into slightly longer pieces, since I felt like the way the chapters were divided was throwing the pacing off a little. - I'm currently putting this story through some early stage beta reading and merging some of the chapters! Contact me if you'd like to beta read. :)
