It happened once in the year 1245 to a girl named Tatia Petrova then it happened again in 1864 to Isabella Swan then now again in 2014. It was destiny as each of these girls were identical and were all in love with a family of vampires... Tatia petrova was first in the line of these unfortunate circumstances in 1245 she fell in love with the boys of the mikleason family and they got her killed so that they could become the original vampires. She was buried in her prized possession, a blue diamond necklace, and only three were were ever made... Years later in 1864 isabella swan was the next victim, she to fell in love with a vampire family but they left her to die a mortal... but her blue diamond necklace kept her alive! Elena gilbert was last, identical to the rest was born a petrova like the rest but like isabella she was adopted and changed her name. She was in love with the salvatore brothers and her birth mother gave her a blue diamond necklace. Some say there was another necklace and doppelganger but there is no record of her... her name is supposedly Katerina Petrova or more commonly known as Katherine Pierce
