If there was truly the color grey, the Light and the Shadows would not have ended up in separate countries with immense hatred towards one another. This is the society and worldly situation Melody grows up in, learning her own hatred for the Shadows, as she lives in the Light amongst all her friends. 

   When one night she encounters something bigger than herself, bigger than the Light, she does not realize how much trouble she has encountered. She does not realize that she has just written her life out, along with a few of her friends.
