In the dystopian story, The Arrangement of the Law, Bethany has come of the age of when she must decide where she will live out her life in a seven-country society. She can choose anywhere, but the Capitol, Sulligent. Long ago the seven countries made a treaty with one another to stay united, but a rule they all agreed upon hurt the people most of all. The Arrangement of the Law. As soon as a baby is born, it is sent to the country of Winnett to be raised with no obligations from the lives they have come from. Every 5 years children ages 14-19 are allowed the day of The Decision to meet their parents. The child can then ask whatever they desire to know. If the child decides to live with their family like Bethany chose to- they are sent by train to travel to the country. Bethany is faced with many things in her new life, like having a stalker lover, an unknown sister become pregnant, a fire, and a secret. A secret so valuable, it is worth more than her own life.

Can she handle her new life? Or will she fall into ruins?
