Ever since she was a little girl Emily wanted to know everything. She would read every book on the shelf, emerge herself in school, ask questions at every opportunity and read her towns newspaper.
At 18 years old Emily's curiosity hasn't faded. So when she finds out that her grandmother died due to unknown causes Emily has to know.
Emily ventures to her grandmothers huge house that sits alone in the woods to try to figure out what happened. For the first time in her life her need to know everything might not be for the best. As they always say curiosity kills the cat.

✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ contradict♡ry... explores the daily lives and struggles of teens balancing high school, their home lives, and social relationships in this fictional world, specifically, following the two mains with their contrasting upbringings; the perspective of Sage (mostly) or Aspen. Though it does go into romantic territory, which will be recurring throughout, it delves deeper into the respective lives of the main characters and how they are both affected by the home they grew up in despite having vastly different arrangements. Extending to how they both respond, have clashing personalities, relationships with addiction and their peers, and constant conflicts with themselves or others, there's rarely downtime reading through Sage or Aspen. With that, this focus includes all the other characters, who deal with their own struggles and individual personalities, but, at the end of the day, lands on them being teens.

My life has always been terrible. I was always bullied at school. I don't know why, it just seemed that people didn't like my presence. The guys would beat me up and I'd get in trouble when I defended myself, for the teachers never saw what they did. The girls would trick me, making me think they liked me and laughing at me because of it. I was always in the principle's office for one reason or another, but I wasn't a bad student. I actually got really good grades. To make matters worse, my mother wanted nothing to do with me. She'd lock me in the basement, sometimes for days, with no food or warmth. My father would then sneak down and beat me before raping me. So, naturally, I wanted to die. But, for some reason, I can't die. No matter what I do, I can't stay dead.
