En el año 2052 se vio la llegada de unos fantasmas mutantes producto de los experimentos fallidos de algunos científicos malvados que intentaban traer a la vida a las personas, estos provocaron una de las peores  guerras conocidas por la humanidad, la innombrable "Guerra espectral"  o mejor conocida como la guerra de los fantasmas. Muchas personas murieron en aquella guerra con las consecuencia de que cada quien al morir se convertía en un espectro del mal.

Max con tan solo 15 años de edad y Lacia de tan solo 7 son dos niños huérfanos que perdieron a sus padres en la guerra, estos decidieron cuidarse el uno al otro formando así una relación tan fuerte como si de dos hermanos se tratara. 8 años después de aquel fatídico día, Max y Lacia deciden embarcarse en una aventura con el fin de hallar el "Cristal mágico".
