37 parts Complete
❖ Interstellar pilot and ex-adventurer Alex Gallegos must keep their team safe on an icy moon as sentient storms threaten to repeat the tragedy that ended their last career. ❖ Everyone in the United Inhabited Solar Systems (for some reason, UIS for short) knows to stay away from Mahaha. The icy moon is notorious for failed probe landings and research missions that end in tragedy: the only people to ever venture to its surface needed rescuing after just two weeks. When a prestigious research group decides they want a turn, they ask Alex Gallegos to lead the team. Perfectly qualified and haunted by their past, Alex accepts, hoping to make up for old mistakes and get just a little further from the earth they've left behind. Two months into the seven-month mission, the team is struggling with discontent, damaged equipment, and blizzards acting less and less like normal weather. As Mahaha moves out of range of help and the storms take on a more malicious character, Alex must face the one foe they could never have prepared for. Mahaha may or may not be alive. ❖❖❖ Complete. Wattys 2021 Shortlister. Standalone sequel (Rocks Can Dance) coming in 2023. Comments and critiques are both welcome and appreciated. I write characters from many different backgrounds, with many different experiences. If you share those traits and find that I have misrepresented anything, please let me know! I am feedback-friendly and here to learn :)
The Hidden Game by bjcoupland
20 parts Ongoing
Amelia Swanson's parents were murdered when she was four. The killer was never found. Twelve years later, she cracks a cipher that her mother left behind-and it leads to one of the most powerful men in the country. But asking questions about the past is dangerous when you live in a surveillance state. AI assistants monitor every word. City walls separate the worthy from the "uncounted." And the conspiracy that killed her parents is very much alive. Now Amelia and her best friend Marv are being hunted. By a system that erases inconvenient truths. By enemies who've killed to keep secrets buried. And by something that stalks her dreams-something that knows her name. The deeper she digs, the more she realizes: her parents weren't just victims. They were players in a hidden game. A game where the stakes are power, control, and the truth itself. And Amelia just stepped onto the board. ---- What to expect: - Conspiracy thriller with psychological horror elements - Found family & loyal friendships - Surveillance capitalism critique - Mystery that compounds (every answer raises new questions) - Slow-burn investigation with escalating danger - NO romantic subplot (friendship-focused) Content warnings: Parental death (past), trauma/PTSD, child in peril (flashbacks), violence, paranoia/surveillance themes ---- - New Transmissions: every 7-10 days - Current Phase: Book 1, Season 1. In progress - updating regularly. - Future Plans: Book 1 has 80 Transmissions. 3-book trilogy. 9 seasons in total. (over 750,000 words)
