When We Met

The moment my eyes landed on you I knew I was in trouble. Not because you were handsome but because you radiated a warmth that spoke to my soul. A light that seemed to shine brighter than anything I had ever seen.

You sat there among your friends, a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye without a care in the world. And I knew without a doubt that I was yours. My brown eyes sought you out, willed your gaze to land on me. But it didn't. I was to remain in the shadows, hidden from your sight, until that day came crawling by.

That chilly October day where my life seemed to be spiraling out of control, where I felt like I didn't belong, where I felt out of place. Then as a flash of blinding light I saw you again, with your friends, a group of carefree individuals that tilted my world upside down.

It sounds ridiculous. And stupid and a tad bit crazy but it was true. When we made eye contact I no longer felt out of place, or foreign inside of my own skin I felt...Alive.

I felt, Here.

That day everything changed.
