From the age of four months old, you're destined to become 'The Light-bearer’, the ultimate protector of the Faroese nation and beyond. On the day of your succession, you accidentally unleash upon the world the very threat you're supposed to protect it from.
You're then tasked to stop an unspeakably powerful enemy with the aid of some rusting old artefacts, and a mad old Hermit, whose questionable hygiene is enough to bring tears to the eyes of anyone with clear sinuses, who also seems intent on getting you accidentally killed!! Oh and you've only just turned 13!
‘Will my dad be ok?’ Høgni asked changing the subject back to his sleeping dad.
‘Who? Oh him, he should be. If that herb didn’t kill him straight away, he’ll be feeling much better in the morning.’
‘It could have killed him?!’ Høgni blurted out.
‘Yes, lucky he’s as strong as he looks, everybody else I’ve given it to… well they sort of died.’
‘And you gave it to him without warning me?!’
‘You were making so much noise. Help me, help him, please save my dad’ he mimicked. ‘I thought that I’d help and either way you would have shut up, at least for a second or two.’
‘What?’
‘Nothing’ Hermit muttered. ‘Youngsters these days, so sensitive!’
Høgni (Pronounced Huck-ni-ya say it quickly) hurls the reader headlong into a medley of strange and unknown worlds, stuffed full of humour and with a stellar cast of villains and heroes that will have you clapping and rooting for them all. Expect danger, expect adventure, expect action, expect the fantastical.. Just don't expect to put the book down!!!
