Ryan was gay and in love with Brendon, and he was finally ready to try and accept it.

And while that was true, so much was left unresolved. Dallon would still tell everybody before Ryan was ready to come out, his parents would be another obstacle in their way, and the process of Ryan learning to accept him would be an extensive, complicated one.
