King, a young, teenage boy, finds that he has extraordinary powers and is sent away to live with his father's friend from long ago, Berne. He finds that Berne, not only runs a small Goodwill, but he also runs a training camp for those with powers.  Forming a tight bond with the five others at Berne's place, King finds that he is being trained to fight in a superhuman war that seems like it'll never be won.
