Valerie, Brianna, Sophie, and Alison are best friends. Valerie's the nerd, Brianna's the popular Queen Bee, Sophie's the sweetheart who can't say no to anybody, and Alison's the music geek. There can't be anymore to them than that, right? Every rule is high school states that they can't be friends because they are from different social groups, but maybe they aren't so different after all. Maybe there's more to them than their stereotypes. Maybe they all have their own problems like strict parents and an overshadowing sister, parents who seem like they don't care, having a new parent and siblings, and parents that argue a lot. Even though they seem so different, they have a lot more in common than anyone thinks. So how did they become friends? You'll have to read to find out!

How would you describe yourself? Preppy? Jock? Nerd? Slut? Nice? Valerie Topson was what you would call the "It" girl. She has the perfect boyfriend, the beautiful friends, the grades, the cheer uniform, and a bright college path all laid out for her. She's everyone's best friend and you all know her name, because she's the one who stays late to help clean up the after party, she's the girl you call when you fail a test or break up with your girlfriend, and she's the one you look up to and wish you had her life. How do you describe yourself Valerie? Would you agree with anything above? Oh definitely! My boyfriend is so perfect that we haven't talked in weeks. My friends are just great, when they aren't making rumors on why I disappeared for a week. My grades need some work, as my mother would say if she was still around. Because drug dealers and whores are great people to get life advice and work ethic from. Where did you even find this shit, a hallmark card? Welcome to the real world, reader, buckle up. Not everyone has a sunshine and rainbow life like you did... Or like I used to have.
