In 1996, a little girl encountered her first nightmare. Not the ones you have while you sleep, but the real ones that seem as they should be fake or part of your dreams. Sarah lived through one as a young girl. Raised in the quiet backwoods of Pennsylvania, there was rarely anyone around their old mansion. Sarah comes face to face with Death, a shadow lurking in the dark. Running away from the problem doesn't work. You have to send it back to hell. To the depths of where evil demons, spirits, and trapped angels and kids are. If you don't, it'll drag you back. Sarah attempts to run from it; moving to California, she thinks she lost it and will never see its figure lurking in her backyard again.
