"My mom wants me to come home asap,I didn't clean my room this morning and she said I'm in big trouble!! A bad way to start off the summer huh"?? Alex exclaimed.

 I was now alone and bored,good thing I brought my ear buds with me.
As I started to put in my ear buds for a second I thought I could hear footsteps trailing behind me,so I looked and a tall man with a black bag in his hand was behind me!

Alex's P.O.V

 Her phone went straight to voicemail. Wow that's not like her she would always answer to my calls.

I take a deep breath I didn't know I was holding at the driver's side door swings open and a very pissed off Axel steps out. "Thank god," I mumble and place my hands on my knees to catch my breath. "Blaze?" He says and I hate it. I hate how he says my name as if it's his. Like he knows it's the only thing I want to hear, him calling out to me, looking at me, focused to me. It's the first time in my life I wanted someone's attention so badly I didn't care how I got it. And that was too dangerous for me to hold onto. "Are you insane or some shit? I could have killed you!" He says and starts to walk towards me. I take a big breath and step back away from him, "s-stop! Axel," I stutter still panting. It's then he notices the blood on my hands and shirt. "Is that blood?" He asks staring at my shirt and I take another step back. "Stop, stay b-back," I try to say confidently but I can't even breath right. Realizing he won't listen I start to turn around planning to make a break for it. "Don't run from me Blaze it won't go well," he growls reading my thoughts causing me to freeze in my spot. "Do not ever think you can get away from me."

"Zachary." I snickered. He growled playfully as I laughed, dodging his attempt to grab me and took off running in a random direction. I ran with Zac right on my heels, until I turned a corner and ran into a hard chest. All of the thugs layed on the floor unconcious. I did it! The hostages stood there, staring at me in shock. News helicopters flew around the building. I walked to the shattered window I entered. The cops were below, just entering the building to rescue the hostages. "Thank you" I heard one of the hostages say. I turned around to see an older woman. "What is your name?" she asked. I couldn't tell her my real name. I was just an 18 year old girl trying to finish high school. I never expected any of this. I knew that the powers I had were a blessing. A blessing that needed to be protected. I looked to see her waiting for my response. I said the first name that came to my mind. "My name is Atomic Woman " I dove out the ten story building before she could say anything. Just like that, a hero was born.

I was taking a walk away from the orphanage grounds so I could relax outside for a bit as Mr. White would never let us leave the grounds in the morning or night. I told myself "deep breaths" and then I quietly snuck out of my room to feel to feel the night air before going back inside. I was feeling scared as I stared to hear strange but deep voices coming towards me. I thought to myself "run" and I did I ran to my room at the orphanage. but I tried to sleep, unfortunately I couldn't as I heard someone above me singing a strange lullaby.

Prologue: The Letter That day went like any other. I parked my mom's old Ford Escape in the driveway. I had just gotten off work, and it was my last day. Before I walked into the house, I grabbed the mail. A cool breeze whipped past me. I began to look through the mail, like routine and headed inside. There was a cream-colored envelope with big blocky letters saying "Arielle Lancaster." Which would be acceptable only if it wasn't from a place I've never heard of before. "Mount Haven"... might be a scam. Right? The lettering looks like something from the government. Curiosity washed over me, and I opened it. I walked inside to see my parents were gone. I shrugged it off and headed to my room. My eyes began to skim the letter. "To the next of kin of Leah Fletcher," The letter began. Who is that? My eyes jumped to the next thing to catch my eye. "You now fully own 1582 Everest Drive, Mount Haven, Maine. You will need to come and take care of this property." My eyes then jumped to the bottom of the letter. "If you have any questions, please contact me at 723-356-7891." I grabbed my phone. My body began to shake. "Hello?"I asked.

The sudden gaze caused to heart to race while it froze my body as if I have turned into ice. I felt the fear engulf my body, eating me inside out. "You aren't scared of me... Are you?" he asked me, I sensed the envy in his voice. That mixed with his harsh tone caused a wave of goosebumps to course through my body. I wanted to begin by asking him where was I? Why was I here? Why was he here... I wanted to ask him, but I couldn't, the fear was just all too much for me. "Come on... Speak to me... Ask me..." he began. "Ask me 'why am I here' and all of that crap... Entertain me with your fear." I saw him slowly gripping a knife that was on the countertop, with his eyes still on mine. The sides of his mouth slowly began tilting upwards. All the bitterness and the cold, it was all so visible in his eyes. I looked at him in horror, noticing him as he took his first steps towards me. "Talk to me... Because this might be the only time you will ever be able to talk, " he said this sentence in such a calm tone, it caused me once again to shiver with goosebumps. "W-what do you mean...". Never in my life have I stuttered, until then.
