Steven Easton is raising his niece, Ava, as they move up to suburban Iowa from a small town Alabama. Steven's aunt, Jen, is middle school principal, and offered him a teaching job. The house he bought is in need of a ton of a lot of renovations. He will be at a leadership conference for a week and then on mission trip, so he won't have a lot of time to get everything done. He doesn't want to ask for help from his aunt and uncle because they've already done enough from him.
Zane has had a rough time with romance through his whole life. His first wife left him. His next spouse cheated on him. And every relationship he's been in between and before went south pretty quickly.
Now here Zane is at forty-two with two adult daughters and one son who's only six.
Everybody in his life seems to be happily married or engaged, except for him.
Zane isn't exactly happy, but he's managing, he doesn't mind it being just him.
Until Eden came into his life he was fine with just focusing on his son.
