Spud was just your regular guy- your average, gangly, hipster-glasses-sporting, sandy-blonde-crewcut-wearing, slightly dyslexic, nerdy guy. Things were exceedingly average for him all throughout high school, you know, not being super popular but having one best friend, not dating anyone, making mediocre grades... until one day, Janet Dozier came to Shallow Valley High, and turned Spud's life upside down.
Janet just wasn't quite normal. She had a weird preference for food, she didn't know how to raise her hand normally, and her facial expressions sometimes went awry. But when a friendship--and maybe something more--blossomed between her and Spud, Spud found himself entwined in a plot of espionage, murder and revenge that was *out of this world*.

An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. About 16 years ago, a fantastic gift was bestowed upon my parents, and they named it Hartley. Yeah, rhymes with Fartley. Thanks mom and dad. Regardless of the unfortunate things my name rhymed with, I had a blissfully drama free childhood, until highschool rolled around. From my first lungful of the heavy, nacho and Axe scented air back in 8th grade, I new things were going to change. And they did. Friends came, friends left, but years later in Grade 11, I finally had my solid group of people, who could also be mistaken for insane asylum escapees.It was also the year I noticed Halden. From his perfectly messy brown hair, all the way down to his beat up Converse, I knew he was the perfect one for me, and dove in head first. The only downfall was that it'd hard to see the right guys when you're already drowning in the wrong ones.
