A life where my mother used to tuck me into bed at night.
A life where I had sibling rivalry with my sister, Blair.
A life where it would be an average day.
But things change, whether you like it or not. Whether it's for good or for bad.
For me, it was more than awful.
Taken from my home alongside my best friend, we were horrified to know what humanity did behind closed doors and inside walls.
Experiments.
Experiments where humans tested on their own kind and treating them like criminals, animals, or something below themselves.
After one fateful choice, our lives had changed forever.
And nothing would ever be the same.

Beneath the Shadowlanders
We knew something wasn't right from the moment we awoke. It was like something was missing - a part of our very souls - and we couldn't sense the deficiency, no matter how hard we tried. A hundred million eyes adjusted to the dark all at once, all surprised to be awakened so soon. We ran through our checklists of limbs and senses, drawing ourselves out of our dreams piece by piece. Some went back to sleep, unaware, unbothered, too tired to notice the difference. Some lay in bed, too anxious to stand until the light of dawn crept through their windows at last, and they were sure the monsters in their closets had gone back to sleep. Some leapt from their slumbers, more keenly aware than others that the missing pieces were important. But we didn't know. We couldn't have. Mattie's Memories
Madelyn Vissor prefers to go by Mattie... at least she thinks she does. Having just moved across the country with her mother to escape dealing with unusual problems Mattie is not your typical teenager. She was in an accident, and no it wasn't a fender bender. Mattie's accident was more of a "your car has crumbled into an accordion and we need the jaws of like to save you" type crash. Miraculously she survives and almost completely recovers. As far as she knows, the accident only really took one thing from her - her memories. Hoping to spare her daughter the pain of living a life she doesn't remember; her mom moves her across the country for a fresh start. Giving up everything for her daughter, she only asking one thing in return. Mattie can't look up her accident. But when a new friend discovers an article about the accident, will she tell Mattie the secret her mother's been keeping? As a strange encounter in a park finds a way to force Mattie to question everything she thinks she knows, anything is possible. The experiment.
They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. They tugged and poked and even shoved their disgusting finger in your wound, just to see you cry. To see you change. No pitty in their eyes. They just continue. They drag you around with metal chains, hit you and turn you into a experiment. But I had enough of the tugging, the clawing, the moaning, the crying and pleading for them to stop, but simply feeding them with our pain. They turned me into something, that neither do they know what I am. Their afraid of me, of my reflexes, my strength. I killed a lot of them. They say I have a cold heart, that I don't feel nothing. A teen girl, pitch black hair, black eyes, white skin. Her height is 5'8. People are scared of her, not just because of her strength but because of they way she kills. She lived in this hell hole, where they take her to rooms. Examine. Fight. She knows she won't be able to entertain them for long. She decides to run. Soul. Brown hair as mud, blue eyes as the sky. Hight 6'2. Tanned and toned body. Death's best friend in the hell hole they're in, he's as cold as she is. But shows a bit of sympathy. Well... More than her at least. Why was there a boy in my room? There was a boy in my room! "Shoo, shoo." I whacked him with the umbrella as he backed up next to the window. All I did was make a wish. Just a few words I called a sentence and a few sentences I called a paragraph. How was I supposed to know that it would turn out like this. What even was this? I was him. He was me. We were...we? I was drowning. I knew that. I also knew that the hands around my throat, pushing me deeper into the river water was the cause. What I didn't know was who was drowning me and why. It hurt thinking. It hurt to do anything right now. But I still screamed under the cold water and pushed the hands away as hard as I could. It didn't have much effect. I fought and fought, but I was getting weaker, and colder. The pain was overbearing. I couldn't breathe. It was the worst pain imaginable; and as the hands that were around my neck were forcibly ripped off by some unknown force, I slipped deeper into the depths of the river. My hair was straight above me along with my arms. My eyes were open and the water burned. A darkness started to pull me under, taking the pain away.
